DOING KRISHNA 2006
Since, the sixteenth century the Radha-Krishna amour appears prominently as a motif in North Indian paintings. Krishna is the personification of love. The series of works titled Doing Krishna is my 21st century representation of love. The drill machine is bulky, solid and functional. Violent and invasive in character. On the contrast the process of painting it is gradual, tender and sensous. The drill machine represents the male as a sexually active socially accepted aggressor. My painting it, is neither a submission nor a resistance.
"It is an attempt to understand and respond to an expanding and contentious urban environment, paralleled by social constraints."
